Jony Ive Retaking His Design Management Role After Two Years As Chief Design Officer At Apple

According to the Apple's official Apple Leadership page, Apple Chief Design Officer Jony Ive is once again taking over management of the design team at the company. Bloomberg has confirmed that Ive is once again in direct control of the team and it was shared by Mark Gurman

Jony Ive dropped out of the day-to-day management roles of the Apple design team in 2015, choose to be the Chief Design Officer. Alan Dye and Richard Howarth are promoted to SVP at that time, with Howarth in charge of industrial design and Dye in charge of user interface design. Currently, the site removed the profiles of Howarth and Dye.

In the past few years, Ive has been supervising the design of Apple Park and global outlets. Apple Park has now been completed and put into use; retail store design has also been basically updated, so Ive is the time to regain the original management responsibilities.

Apple has also confirmed to Bloomberg that Jony Ive has returned to his management role following the completion of Apple Park: "With the completion of Apple Park, Apple’s design leaders and teams are again reporting directly to Jony Ive, who remains focused purely on design."

Ive began leading Apple’s industrial design team around 1996, before Steve Jobs returned from exile back to the company he co-founded. In 2012, one year after becoming the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook put Ive in charge of software design as well.
