Analyst Suggest That 2018 iPhones To Come With 9V 2A Charging Circuitry For Faster Charging

Jun Zhang, an analyst at Rosenblatt Securities, released a research note today, saying that Apple may adopt even faster charging technology in the next iPhone. Zhang believes that this year's new iPhones' charging circuitry will be upgraded from 5V 2A to 9V 2A and 5V 3A, making it to better compete with Android smartphones.

To reach this goal, Apple casts Power Integrations as the only supplier of fast-charging chipsets. Power Integrations has fixed the existing quality issues and this company will replace ON Semiconductor and NXP Semiconductors as the main provider of the new charging solutions for all the upcoming iPhones and iPads.

The report also stated that even though the new LCD iPhone will support wireless charging, Apple will prefer TI's solution instead of Broadcom's solution to reduce costs. For those unknown, both fast-charging as well as wireless charging were first debuted in the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. (Via AppleInsider)
