How To Hide macOS Menu Bar Icons With Vanilla App

For the most part, the macOS menu bar can be really useful, however, if your menu bar is looking cluttered with tons of icons, then you might want to try out this handy and free utility app called Vanilla, it allows you to hide menu bar icons simply by collapsing them. Here’s how to use it!

  1. Download the Vanilla from developer Mathew Palmer, it’s free, but there’s also a pay version for additional features.
  2. Once you downloaded, launch it, then hold the Command key and drag menu bar icons hide into the Vanilla portion of the menu bar.
  3. Click the arrow button to expand or collapse these menu bar icons.
  4. And that’s it!
All of the hidden menu bar icons are accessible behind the Vanilla arrow button. And, if you want these icons visible again, just quit the Vanilla, then all of your menu bar stuff are returned to their normal position. It is that simple!
