Steven T-S: New Evidence In iOS 12 Suggest New iPad Will Come With Face ID Support

Steven Troughton-Smith, who leaked several accurate features of the iPhone X, is now back with new evidence that the new iPad will come with Face ID.

This evidence comes from Apple's AvatarKit development framework that is available on the iPad since iOS 12 was available for beta testers, which is the basis for Apple's Animoji and Memoji. Previously, only the iPhone X firmware had the AvartarKit framework, because the True-Depth camera system still required to do face tracking.

As shown in the figure, the integration of the framework in the iOS 12 beta is another example of the upcoming iPad with Face ID support. The previous evidence is that after the user upgraded iPad to iOS 12, gestures have changed some, much similar to the iPhone X's, such as launching control center's gesture trigger point to the upper right corner.

iPad Pro with Face ID support is nothing new, analysts like Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo who believed that Apple will schedule to release in this fall, most likely around September. The new iPad is expected to have design elements of iPhone X, such as thin bezels, no Home button, support for Face ID, and more.
