2018 iPad Pro Leaks: Will Be 5.9mm Thick, No Headphone Jack, But The Same Screen Resolution

As we get closer to the launch of the new generation of iPad Pros, rumors will start to flooding Apple blogs. New leaks now suggest that the upcoming 2018 iPad Pro is probably the thinnest model to date and first iPad to have no headphone jack, but the resolution of the display will not change for whatever reason.


According to Twitter user CoinCoin, because the new Pro is too thin, it can no longer accommodate a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The new iPad Pro will measure at 5.86 mm. In contrast, the current 10.5-inch iPad Pro is 6.1 mm thick & 6.9 mm to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

In addition, the new small screen iPad Pro has a length and width of 247.64 mm and 178.52 mm, respectively, while the large screen iPad Pro has a length and width of 280.66 mm and 215 mm, respectively. For the sake of comparison, the existing 10.5-inch iPad Pro has a length and width of 250.5 mm and 174.1 mm, respectively; the 12.9-inch iPad Pro has a length and width of 305.7 mm and 220.6 mm, respectively.

We know that 2018 iPad Pro has 8 model numbers, namely iPad8, 1, iPad8, 2, iPad8, 5, iPad8, 6 (WiFi version) and iPad8, 3, iPad. 8, 4, iPad 8, 7, iPad 8, 8 (Cellular version). Yesterday, Appsee, a mobile app analytics platform, disclosed that asides from the iPad 8, 6 and iPad 8, 7, the other six models were all appearing in their device logs starting August 1.

The site also revealed that the resolution of the new iPad Pro is the same as the resolution of the existing 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Among them, iPad8,1~iPad8,4 is 1112 x 834, while iPad8,5~iPad8,6 is 1366 x 1024. However, these just point resolutions. so that the resolution into pixels is 2224 x 1668 and 2732 x 2048, which is current iPad Pro's resolution.
