Report: 2019 iPhone To Include 18W Power Adapter, Lightning To USB-C Cable, And Wireless PowerShare Feature

According to the Japanese website Mac Otakara, Apple's next-generation iPhone will support IDT's Wireless PowerShare technology. The report also suggested that 2019 iPhone will still include the Lightning port, but is expected to offer 18W fast charging and Lightning to USB-C cable.

IDT's wireless PowerShare technology, released in 2015, is a Qi-based wireless charging solution that allows smartphones to wirelessly charge other devices. Samsung is the first mainstream smartphone manufacturer to adopt such technology, as its Galaxy S10 supports wireless charging for other devices.

With Wireless PowerShare, the next-generation iPhone can charge Apple's new AirPods charging case, as well as Apple Watch, according to sources. In February of this year, Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-respected Apple analyst at Tianfeng International securities, predicted that the next 2019 iPhones would support wireless charging for other devices.

The iPhone has been providing a 5W USB power adapter. If it upgraded to 18W, it will be a significant improvement. The Study shows that the 18W power adapter is capable of charge iPhone X from 1% to 79% in just 1 hour.
