Rumors: Four New iPhones In 2020, 3D Touch Absent On iPhone 11, AirPods 3 Expected Later This Year

Four New iPhones In 2020

Analysts at JP Morgan predict that Apple will release four new iPhones in 2020. Among them, three iPhones will use OLED screens, which are measured at 5.4 inches, 6.1 inches, and 6.7 inches respectively. These three iPhones will support 5G network, while the rear camera supports 3D sensing ToF technology. This is to better support the AR/VR functionality.

With support for 5G, JP Morgan Chase expects that the iPhone sales will reach 195 million in 2020. In 2019, JP Morgan Chase gave an iPhone sales forecast of 180 million. The Analysts believe that iPhone sales will see a substantial increase in 2020, due to the large upgrade. For the fourth iPhone, JP Morgan believes that Apple will launch a low-priced version that may be the same size as the iPhone 8 but no 5G and OLED displays.

3D Touch To Be Absent On iPhone 11

According to the Taiwanese media DigiTimes report, Apple will remove all 3D Touch features on this year's iPhone models, including the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max. At the same time, Apple will add BOE as a supplier of the OLED screens for iPhone 11.

3D Touch has been rumored for a long time to be abandoned. Last year, analysts said  that Apple no longer produces pressure-sensitive screens. The iPhone XR released last year also does not support 3D Touch functionality. In the iOS 13 beta, many features that previously required 3D Touch to activate can now be achieved by long pressing + Haptic Engine.

Also from DigiTimes, the iPad 7 will start mass production this month, which to feature 10.2-inch display instead of 9.7-inch, and the production of the 16-inch MacBook Pro will kickoff in the fourth quarter of this year.

AirPods 3 Coming Out End Of The Year With Waterproof

According to Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives, Apple plans to release the third-generation AirPods at the end of 2019, which waterproof will be the main selling point. The first two generations of AirPods do not have any IP waterproof or dustproof rating.

Daniel Ives believes that the new AirPods will be available for sale before the holiday shopping season and will introduce a new design. The AirPods design has not changed since its original release in December 2016.
