Apple Launches New USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter: 60Hz 4K And HDMI Support

Apple has begun selling its new USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, the $69 priced dongle includes a USB-C port, an HDMI port, and a USB-A port, so customers can connect their UBC-C enabled Mac or iPad Pro to an HDMI display, such as TV, display, projector, and so on.


The new USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter is model A2119, as the old version is A1621. The new version supports HDMI 2.0 and up to 4K 3840 x 2160 60Hz video, while the previous model supports only HDMI 1.4b. Nonetheless, here is the list of devices that should support the new adapter:
  • 15-inch MacBook Pro (2017 or newer)
  • Retina iMac (2017 or newer)
  • iMac Pro
  • iPad Pro
Meanwhile, the system requirements are macOS Mojave 10.14.6 or newer, and the iPad Pro must be on iOS 12.4 or higher. Other improvements to the new dongle include HDR10 and Dolby Vision support, as well as the ability to transfer power from a power source via the USB-C port.
