Apple Could Release iPhone With Both Face ID And Touch ID In 2020 At Earliest

A report by Bloomberg suggests that Apple will add an in-screen Touch ID fingerprint sensor to the iPhones that will be released next year. At the same time, the Face ID will continue to exist, meaning that the user can either assign the Touch ID or the Face ID for the authentication process, said person who familiar with the matter.

The upcoming fingerprint reader would be embedded in the screen, letting a user scan their fingerprint on a large portion of the display, and it would work in tandem with the existing Face ID system, the people familiar with Apple’s plans said.
Nevertheless, Bloomberg said that the person familiar with the matter said that Apple and its overseas suppliers are currently testing the how it will work out for both sensors to exit, which will be applied to the iPhone as early as next year, or it may be postponed until 2021.

The last two-generation of iPhones feature the Face ID facial recognition system. For the next-generation iPhone that will be released on September 11, it is expected that Face ID will contiune to be used. With Face ID, users can unlock the iPhone, log in to the app, using Apple Pay, etc. as long as they look at the phone.

Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously also predicted that the iPhone released in 2021 will support both Touch ID and Face ID.
