As per a new DigiTimes report, Apple's upcoming 6.1-inch iPhone 12 model will start mass production from July to August, ahead of other iPhone models that will be released this year.
Apple will launch four new iPhone models within the time frame of September or October, although compared to previous years, tight supply and delays in increased production may cause the timing of the launch of Apple's new smartphones to stagger.
Among the four new models to be announced this year, there are rumors that Samsung will provide displays for three models: the 5.4-inch entry-level iPhone 12 and the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro models. The fourth model is the 6.1-inch iPhone 12, the specs of which are similar to the iPhone 11 launched in 2019, and BOE and LG are expected to provide displays.
The explanation concerning the earlier production schedules for 6.1-inch models is that they will use touch modules that need to be outsourced from other supply chain partners, and Samsung's 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch OLED panels will come with the Y-OCTA Touch technology panel manufacturers. Samsung’s Y-OCTA flexible display technology places the touch sensor directly on the OLED panel without the need for a separate touch layer.
