Apple's First Retail Store In South Korea And The 500th In The World Opened To The Public Today

Today, Apple opened their first retail location in South Korea with a public grand opening. The company has shown some photos and video of the festivities from those who attended the grand opening, more interestingly Apple’s retail SVP Angela Ahrendts in attendance to welcome the location’s first visitors.

The opening of Apple Garosugil is a particularly important milestone because it embodies the vision of modern Apple stores as community spaces, but also located in a region that was previously served only by third-party retailers that typically place less importance on customer experience.

The building has a lower level meeting area called the boardroom, which features wooden Maruni chairs similar to those found at Apple Park’s Visitor Center, and Apple Park themed decor. The boardroom is also outfitted with custom furniture designed to hold and charge Apple’s entire line of iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and Apple Watches.

Apple notes that the new store is home to 140 Apple Store employees who will collectively speak 15 languages. The new store located in Garosu-gil, is a premium shopping district in Seoul, South Korea, this will be the company's 500th retail location in the world.
