Apple Maps Is Now Collecting Data In At Least 10 Countries

According to Apple's official website, Apple Maps vehicles equipped with LiDAR device are currently being surveyed in at least 41 states in the U.S. 15 counties in the UK, and 10 countries globally. The goal is eventually collect data around world to improve the service.

Apple is driving vehicles around the world to collect data which will be used to improve Apple Maps. Some of this data will be published in future Apple Maps updates.

In 2015, Apple stated the service in major cities in America like New York, with Maine and Iowa being the latest area. Later on, the fleet have hit roads in countries like Croatia, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. 

At the same time, the company regularly publishes these data into future Apple Maps updates. Apple, who heavily focus on privacy, says that they will blur license plates and faces on collected images before they make to the public.
