Apple Offering Free Repair For 42mm AW Series 2 Models With Swollen Battery and Original iPad Pro 's Smart Keyboard

As part of its new service policy, Apple will repair some Apple Watch Series 2 models that cannot power on or swollen battery free of charge, reports MacRumors, who obtained an internal document distributed to retail stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers.

Apple has determined that under certain conditions, some Apple Watch Series 2 devices may not power on or they may experience an expanded battery. Apple will service eligible devices free of charge. Apple will authorized coverage for eligible devices for three years after the original date of purchase.

For those who are not familiar with the matter, a swollen battery can prevent an Apple Watch from powering on or cause the display to burst open. It appears that the issue only existed on any 42mm-sized Apple Watch Series 2 models, as Apple only provide the free repair service to these models, and It doesn't affect by warranty status.


Separately, Apple decided to extend the warranty period of the original iPad Pro's Smart Keyboard to three years, because there may be issues with the accessories, including sensor and Smart Connector problems, key sticking, repeated input, no response, and more. Prior to this, the warranty period for Smart Keyboard is one year.
