Apple Rumors To Introduce USB-C Support For 2019 iPhones, With New Power Adapter Coming This Year

In recent years, the Apple MacBook product lineup has fully embraced the USB-C support. However, for the iPhone product lineup, Apple still insists on using its own Lightning cable, the latest news from DigiTimes shows that this may change next year.

Apple plans to remove the Lightning connector on the iPhones that will be released in 2019, next year, and employ the USB-C port. For this year's new iPhone, Apple may only implement a new design of the power adapter, the new power adapter would support fast charging.

Apple is redesigning chargers and related interface for its next-generation iPhone and iPad devices, and will likely have its 2019 series of iPhones come with USB Type-C support, according to sources at analog IC vendors.

Currently, USB-C has become a new standard in the flagship smartphones of various brands. However, towards the low-end products, the popularity of USB-C is still relatively low. Once the iPhone fully embraces the USB-C support, it is believed that the popularity of USB-C will continue to accelerate and become a unified standard.
