Apple Japan To Offer Free Repair Service To Products That Were Damaged By The Floods

Apple Japan announced today that it will provide free repair services for devices damaged by the Japanese floods in July. The devices that get free repairs includes all the Mac, iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, iPod and Apple's Monitors that were damaged and repairable in July 2018, but accessories and Beats are not included in this free repair service.

Users can apply for free repair service through Apple's Japan support hotline (0120-27753-5) but do not accept online requests. Users are required to live in the area listed in the “Disaster Assistance Laws Adapted to Municipalities” list issued by the Japanese government after the disaster. In addition, devices that are purchased in dealers are not eligible for the repair.

The free repair service will last until the end of September. Apple said it will repair as much as possible of the damage caused by the flood. In addition, Apple may require the user to show relevant proof at the time of repair. The rest is based on Apple's warranty terms.

Apple warns that pickup and delivery times may be impacted depending on damage from the floodwaters, with many areas still flooded.
