How To Use Split View In Safari App On Your iPad

Since Apple introduced Split View on iOS 9, a feature that lets you run multiple apps side by side, it makes the iPad become a much more productive device. Sadly, you can't view two different windows from the same app. However, there is a little-known trick that can be very handy when browsing the Internet, that is, you can Split View in Safari on your iPad.

  1. Firstly, make sure your iPad is capable of supporting the feature, it's available in all iPad Pro models, iPad (5th generation and newer), iPad Air 2, and iPad Mini 4.
  2. Open Safari app on your iPad, and make sure it's in landscape mode.
  3. Click on the Tabs icon and then select Open in Split View; you can type CMD+N if a keyboard is included, or you can also touch and hold the tab, then drag to the right or left until a split window appears.
  4. And that's it.
It's pretty simple, right? Now, when you decided to end Split View, just simply touch and hold the Tabs icon, then choose Close All Tabs or Merge All Tabs. I do hope that someday the feature would come to iPhones, though you can already with a couple third-party apps like iBrowse Duo.
