Intel has officially released its eighth-generation U-series "Whiskey Lake" and Y-series "Amber Lake" chips for ultra-thin, ultra-light laptops like the MacBook Air and MacBook. Apple rumors to introduce next-generation of MacBook this fall, hopefully, they will use the chip.
The new 15W U Series "Whiskey Lake" chips are the i7-8565U, i5-8265U and i3-8145 chips, which can be used in the new MacBook Air. While new Y-series "Amber Lake" chips are the i7-8500Y, i5-8200Y and m3-8100Y, which are Apple would adopt it on its upcoming 12-inch MacBook model.
Intel's new-generation chips emphasize ""raise the bar for connectivity, performance, entertainment, and productivity." According to the chipmarker, the U and Y series chips are twice as fast as the PCs in five years ago, and have a Gigabit-level WiFi connection. The battery life can be last up to 16 hours.
Would Apple adopting these chips? Well, I guess we have to wait Apple announces MacBook models in October to find out, despite Intel says laptops powered by the new chips will be available starting this fall.
