Intel Unveiled The 28-Core Xeon W-3175X Workstation Processor, Perfect For Upcoming Mac Pro

Today, Intel held a press event where they unveiled a new line of high-end processors for professional users, the 9th Gen chips, where they call it "the best gaming processor in the world", which including a 28-core Xeon processor W-3175X that's designed for professional use with a 28-core, 56-thread design, and packs with more firepower.


The W-3175X processor clocks at 3.1GHz and can be clocked up to 4.3GHz. The processor provides a 6-channel DDR4 memory controller that supports up to 512GB of RAM. And, because of the powerful performance, the processor generates a lot of heat when it works, and the TDP reaches 256W. Obviously, it would be great for workstation-class users.

The W-3175X processor is the next generation of the Xeon W series. The 28-core W-3175X processor is well-suited for Apple's upcoming Mac Pro, which they have confirmed that it is developing a new generation of Mac Pro also will adopt a modular design. No price has been announced yet, but it likely to be pricey when it hit stores this December.
