Apple Is Considering To Launch Google Chromecast-Like Cheap 'TV Dongle' Product

The Information is out with a report that in order to promote the upcoming original content service, Apple may preparing to launch a TV dongle product, similar to the Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV Stick, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Information claims Apple had an internal discussion about a low-cost streaming TV stick product that can be plugged into the back of the user's TV. Of course, the report did not entirely confirm that the final product will really be available to users, because Apple may be considering a number of different projects.



If Apple finally chooses to launch such a product, it will bring serious moves to its set-top box business, because the current Apple TV products ain’t cheap, for example, Apple released a $149 tvOS-based Apple TV in 2015, two years later, the company debuted Apple TV 4K for $179 for just added the 4K experience.

The US smart TV market is just the opposite, and prices are usually at the low end of double digits. But it’s worth to note that Apple will offer a free original content streaming service, so that will please users to purchase the device since the upcoming streaming service would be launched as soon as next year.
