iPhone XR Accounts 32% Of Total Sales In November, Higher Than iPhone X Last Year

The newest report from CIRP provides the latest sale data of iPhone XR, iPhone XR, and iPhone XS Max. The insight for this time was focused on November this year, in which data shows that iPhone XR accounts for 32% of total iPhone sales. the share is lower than the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus at the same time in 2017, though iPhone XR sale percentage were higher than iPhone X last year.

Since Apple changed its new iPhone launch strategy in the past two years, it is a bit challenging to compare models to models. Last year's iPhone X accounted for 30% of total iPhone sales in November last year, while iPhone 8 and 8 Plus accounted for 39%, so iPhone XR is somewhere in between.

CIRP also found that in all iPhone buyers, 82% were former iPhone users, whereas 16% were Android users. When the iPhone X was released in November last year, 86% who chose to upgrade were iPhone users, while 11% were Android switchers. But, when the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus was launched last September, 87% upgraded from an iPhone, and 12% upgraded from Android.

Noted that the study is based on 165 US customers who purchased an iPhone XR in the 30 days after it was launched, such results don't represent all iPhone users. Despite analysts says that iPhone XR suffered from lower-than-expected sales, data from third-party data analytics companies and Apple tells us a different story.
