Yesterday, Apple released the first beta version of iOS 12.2, and since then developers have dug in the update to find some relevant information about upcoming product and services, and so far they noticed the "Hey Siri" setup screen for AirPods, which hinting that the company is likely to release AirPods 2 very soon, now, a finding in the Apple News app shows that it will also release a magazine subscription service.
In 2018, Apple acquired the digital magazine app Texture, which leads many analysts to believe that Apple will ultimately launch its own magazine subscription service. According to 9to5Mac, Apple is indeed been working on it: in iOS 12.2 beta, a hidden landing page showed up, and Apple is going to call the service "Apple News Magazines", while we can clearly see that this is still for internal testing.
Meanwhile, it's possible that Apple may launch the subscription service in March event, or plan to announce an all-in-one media subscription which will include Apple Music, its original content and magazines, alongside the announcement of the all-in-one bundle subscription, the company is also rumored to release the iPad mini 5 and 10-inch iPad model in the Spring.
Apparently, users can complete subscriptions and view magazines directly in the Apple News app, and iTunes will process the payment, similar to how Apple Music works. Currently, the Texture app is still available in the App Store, where you can read over 200 magazines for $9.99 a month, including Time, National Geographic, Shape, and Newsweek.
