Apple is introducing a new level to the creativity and art sessions at Apple Stores. These new sessions combine ARKit with art and drawing, in a series of Today at Apple programmes named [AR]T. Registration for these sessions opens on August 10th, at all Apple Stores around the world.

7 New York artists from art organisation New Museum has been selected to curate these free and creative sessions. These artists vary from Nick Cave, Nathalie Djurberg, Hans Berg, Cao Fei, John Giorno, Carsten Höller and Pipilotti Rist. Apple’s SVP of Retail + People, Deirdre O’Brien, explains about this new innovation to creativity:

“Today at Apple offers a window into the creative arts made possible by our products and customers. We hope attendees are inspired by the incredible AR creations in the [AR]T Walk and in-store installation, and we can’t wait to see what our visitors learn to create in the [AR]T Lab.

Next, these Today at Apple sessions will take customers to an experimental level of creativity in the major cities consisting of San Francisco, New York City, London, Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Most of the artists who are facilitating these Today at Apple sessions are also experimenting AR with art for the first time. They also connect participants to significant landmarks such as Trafalgar Square in London, Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco and Grand Army Plaza at New York.  This connects AR to the core principles of visual and digital arts.

Lastly, not only the [AR]T Today at Apple sessions are made to take art to a new dimension, but they also teach customers how to reproduce these artists’ AR projects using Swift Playgrounds. This adds the basics of coding the Swift programming language to a digital art class, making it more fun than ever. On the contrary, customers can also open the Apple Store app on their iPhones and use the [AR]T viewer to explore the AR installations at Apple Stores. This includes Nick Cave’s Amass augmented reality experience.

You can book a free Today at Apple [AR]T session starting August 10th, at your local Apple Store.
