Spotify To Release New Updates For Siri Support In iOS 13

The Information is out with a new report that says Spotify is in talks with Apple to introduce the ability to allow users to use Siri for music, playlist, and album playbacks. These all are possible thanks to the new APIs in iOS 13 that enabled developers to integrate their music and podcast apps with Siri.

The report comes after Spotify launched an antitrust complaint in Europe Union this March and accuses Apple of charging 30% fee for third-party apps in the App Store that gives an "unfair advantage" to Apple Music; won’t allow them to be on HomePod and won’t let them connect with Siri for music playback.

However, the popular music streaming service has changed its tones, instead saying: "Apple won't allow us to be on HomePod and they definitely won't let us connect with Siri to play your jams”, it now states “Only recently, Apple announced that it will let us connect with Siri to play your jams...but fails to mention our name ("I want to play [X] on Spotify") and your HomePod will default to Apple Music”

In iOS 13, Apple opened up the SiriKit to third-party music and podcast apps, and it seems like Spotify has already taken the advantage of the new APIs and will be launching Siri playback feature in a future update.
