Apple's Greg Joswiak: Touch ID Will Continue To Have A Role On Apple Devices

Greg Joswiak, Apple's Vice President of Product Marketing, highlighted the Face ID and Touch ID efforts of the company in an interview with Daily Express on Biometric Security and the iPhone, he said Face ID would appear on more Apple devices, but Touch ID would continue to play a part.

Certainly, we'll continue to put it (Face ID) on more devices but also Touch ID will continue to have a role - it's a great technology on our iPad lineup and we don't see it going away anytime soon

Touch on the basis of why Face ID still leads the industry in terms of security, he said:

Our competitors think they can create something similar with a single camera and that’s often what they want to do. Unfortunately, there's a reason why this is costly; there's a reason why it has all these components because security is night and day over someone trying to do this off a 2D image

He denied that Apple would change the location of the sensors for Face ID, such as adding a pop-up camera for face scanning, which Apple would not do. "I would give people credit for trying new things, competition is what makes the world go round and makes us all better but that's not something we see coming anytime soon."

Joswiak also said that with the improvement of iOS 13, the new generation of Face ID will deliver a 30% speed bump and will be launched alongside the new iPhones tomorrow.

In addition, according to Bloomberg, Apple is developing a in-screen Touch ID tech for the 2020 iPhones, and expect that Face ID and Touch ID will be coexistence on these smartphones.
