iPhone 11's New Multi-Cam Simultaneous Recording Is Also Coming To XS And XR

At the Apple event last week, a video editing app called Filmic Pro helps us to get the drift of the multi-cam simultaneous recording of the iPhone 11 Pro, which let you record simultaneously with the wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, telephoto lens and front lens of the new iPhone. It brings more professional and multi-angle video creation, making it easier for video creators, Vlogger, etc. to obtain video footage.

The good news is that this feature is not restricted to the latest iPhone 11 series, instead, the iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and 2018 iPad Pro will all be supported.

The multi-cam simultaneous recording feature depends on the new API launched in iOS 13, which enables developers to start multi-lens recordings with performance and power-enabled circumstances. Apple introduced the API on the WWDC in 2019, while iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and 2018 iPad Pro users can wait for multi-lens apps to emerge in the coming months, and Filmic Pro will be introduced later this year.

Since there are certain requirements for phone performance owing to the simultaneous processing of various video streams, only certain camera combinations can be activated by the iPhone XS and iPhone XR. Developers may also need to use a low-quality camera source, depending on their application logic and the remainder of the division.

For instance, the iPhone XS released last year supports only two of the three lenses (wide-angle, telephoto, and front) for simultaneous recording, therefore, it does not endorse the simultaneous recording of three lenses.

The multi-cam API will be introduced formally with iOS 13 later this week. It should be observed that the iPhone native camera app does not support simultaneous recording, and that iPhone users currently need to rely heavily on third-party apps to implement this feature.
