watchOS 6.1 Changes and Features!

Apple released the watchOS 6.1 updates to the public. There are some minor changes in these new updates regarding the release of the AirPods Pro yesterday. This includes the introduction of supporting the next AirPods Pro and the first watchOS 6 update to roll out to older Series 1 and 2 Apple Watch models.

The release notes Apple published for this update appears to be brief, as there are only 2 minor changes in the update. This only includes the support for older Series 1 and 2 models, AirPods Pro support and bug fixes.
watchOS 6.1 introduces support for ‌AirPods Pro‌ and includes improvements and bug fixes. This update also brings ‌watchOS 6‌ to ‌Apple Watch‌ Series 1 and Series 2.
However, the initial watchOS 6 public updates weren’t supported for Series 1 and 2 Apple Watch models yet, with only the Series 3 and later models to update in September. Apple outlined in an updated support document regarding the watchOS update installation instructions that they would release the watchOS 6 software to these older Apple Watch models at a later time.

Thus, in order to update to watchOS 6.1, users must have an iPhone 6s running iOS 13 or newer and an Apple Watch Series 1 or later. The update can be done by going to Settings > General > Software Update if the watch is updated to watchOS 6 already or by using the Apple Watch app on iPhone.
