At a surprising move today, Apple has sent invitation for a media event on Monday, December 2 in New York City, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The poster sent a message that the upcoming event will highlight its pick of best apps and games in 2019, meaning there will be no hardware announcements at all.

"Loved by millions. Created by the best," the invite posted on Twitter by users Lance Ulanoff says. "Join us for an Apple special event honoring our favorite apps and games of 2019."

We don't know exactly what's going to unfold, given that Apple never held a similar event, however, the thing that don't fully grasp is why Cupertino ended up choosing to skip the October event this year and instead debuted AirPods Pro and the 16-inch MacBook Pro with press releases.

Nevertheless, for the first few days of December, the company will reveal its favorite apps and games of the year, so it sounds like this year, the winners will be unveiled at the December event.
