Apple has announced the first ever Apple Music Awards, present awards to winners such as "Global Artist of the Year" and "Creator of the Year." The company also announced that a global and live-streamed performance by Billie Eilish that will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater on December 4 at 6:30 p.m. PST
As you have probably guessed, popular singer Billie Eilish won the Artist of the Year award, and her song When WE FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO?" has also been named the Song of the Year. Eilish's brother was named the Artist of the Year alongside her sister. Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" has been won the Song of the Year award and the Breakthrough Artist of the Year was Lizzo.
Apple has customized a very "Apple-like" trophy for each winner: an exclusive customized silicone wafer wrapped in polished glass and processed anodized aluminum metal. The wafer is sliced into hundreds of individual chips and the surface passes through, giving a special glow during treatment. The whole thing is more like a modern vinyl record.

Apple has designed a series of awards to celebrate the extraordinary craftsmanship integral to creating music. Each award features Apple’s custom silicon wafer suspended between a polished sheet of glass and a machined and anodized aluminum body. The wafers start as a perfect 12-inch disc of silicon with nanometer level flatness. Copper layers are deposited and patterned by ultraviolet lithography to create connections between billions of transistors. The result of this multi-month process, before it is sliced into hundreds of individual chips, is stunning and distinctive. In a symbolic gesture, the same chips which power the devices that put the world’s music at your fingertips sit at the very heart of the Apple Music Awards.Just like the announcement of the best apps and games of the year, Apple also offered few insights on the current standing of Apple Music: the music streaming service currently features more than 60 million songs, thousands of playlists, and has attracted tens of millions of subscribers in 115 countries.
