Apple today publicly iOS 13.3 and iPadOS 13.3, the third major update to the iOS 13 operating system. The update is now available for download and installs by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
iOS 13.3's biggest highlight is that the Screen Time feature now has communication restrictions that limit the time children spend on their phone for texting and FaceTime purposes, it also introduces the option to never display the emoji button on the keyboard in keyboard settings, and the Apple Watch app's Digital Crown is grayed out instead of all black.
The update also introduce new layouts for certain publications in Apple News+, a new interface for liking or disliking stories in News, and made improvements on the news options and coverage in the Stocks app, including the links to related stories or more stories from the same publication at the end of an article, “Breaking” and “Developing” labels for Top Stories, and stories from Apple News are now available in Canada in English and French.
Additionally, Apple has implemented a new Safari feature that supports NFC, USB, and Lightning FIDO2-compliant security keys, meaning users will be able to use physical security keys such as the Lightning-equipped YubiKey for more reliable two-factor authentication. For those unfamiliar with what YubiKey is, it's a legitimate and useful tool developed by Yubico, where you simply plug it into a phone, say an iPhone, to complete the two-factor authentication.
