'iPhone 9' Renders Show iPhone 8-Like Design But With Frosted Glass Back

Since 2017, we have heard from various rumors and analysts that Apple is preparing a successor to the iPhone SE, it once was confirmed that such a thing won't exist. However, there were news from supply chain last year claimed that Apple is still planning to launch it in 2020, with the product may be dubbed the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9, since Apple skipped it and went straight to iPhone X instead...

Now, iGeeksBlog and OnLeaks have jointly developed a CAD-based rendering, allowing us to observe what Apple has in store for those who ready to upgrade from their old iPhone models.

The device is similar to the iPhone 8 design and retains the Touch. At the same time, the forehead and chin are wide and the front is a 4.7-inch LCD panel. It means that the iPhone 9 will not incorporate the Face ID technology but the smartphone could still mimic the frosted glass back of the iPhone 11 Pro.

It is reported that the iPhone 9 is 138.5 mm in height and 67.4 mm in width, which is obviously not as compact as the 4-inch iPhone SE of 123.8 x 58.6 mm, but it is really small according to modern standards. In addition, the thickness of the iPhone 9 has been increased from 7.3 mm to 7.8 mm, and if the camera's bump is considered, the thickness has increased to 8.6 mm.

The iPhone 9 will be fitted with a single rear camera, but its image sensor looks wider and chunkier than the back of the iPhone 8, which suggests that the camera's performance will be greatly improved. The budget iPhone will also use Apple's new A13 bionic SoC, and it is expected that the battery will too see a boost in capacity.

Apple will launch the iPhone 9 in March, with reports that the iPhone 9 would price $50 less than the current iPhone 8 value. That said, the 64 GB entry-level storage version costs $399.
