Kuo: 2020 iPhones Will Include Both sub-6GHz And mmWave 5G Support

In a newly-released research report, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reiterates that iPhones to be launched this fall will include both sub-6GHz and mmWave support depending on the region, despite the little-known analyst Mehdi Hosseini said that only sub-6GHZ will be available for purchase in 2020.
We believe that Apple will release new iPhones that support mmWave and Sub-6GHz iPhones at the same time in 2H20. Because 5G iPhones are divided into Sub-6GHz and Sub-6GHz + mmWave models, the complexity of new product development is higher, which is also beneficial to Fuzhikang Group of NRE.
Additionally, as the development of the Sub-6GHz + mmWave iPhone is progressing as scheduled, the analyst expects Apple's new-generation smartphone series to ship at the end of 3Q20 or early 4Q20.

Kuo also argued that iPhone models with mmWave would be available in five markets, including the US, Canada, Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom. Apple may not activate 5G in countries that do not offer 5G service or have a shallow 5G penetration rate to reduce unnecessary production costs.

Apple is expected to launch four iPhones in fall, including iPhone 12 with 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch OLED panels, iPhone 12 Pro with 6.1-inch OLED panel, and iPhone 12 Pro Max with 6.7-inch OLED display. iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max is said to include a time-of-flight (ToF) camera and possibly redesign to the metal frame.
