Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is out with a report today detailing that Apple will postpone the release of “iPhone SE Plus” until the second half of 2021, and the mmWave iPhone 12, maybe delayed too.
Kuo starts off by saying Apple will "likely postpone" the launch of its rumored iPhone SE Plus from the first half of 2020 to the second half of 2021, while citied multiple economic and production factors, including the impact that the coronavirus had on Apple suppliers' production facilities.
As for the iPhone 12, Kuo said that the 6.1/5.4-inch iPhone 12 could be mass-produced in September, but the iPhone 12 that supports millimeter-wave faces the risk of delay. He said that the millimeter-wave iPhone 12 had been delayed because the design of the AiP system (Antenna in the package) had revised at the beginning of April, and the relevant testing laboratory had also suspended verification operations.
Lastly, Kuo provided a projection of iPhone sales in Q2 in 2020: in the most negative scenario, Apple's iPhone shipments in the second quarter of this year will be 29-32 million units. Meanwhile, total iPhone shipments in 2020 will plunge by 10-15% or 165-175 million units.
