In a new report, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman explained Apple's current succession plan for senior management roles in the company. Apple is paying more and more attention to training "a new generation of leaders" who will ultimately take on senior roles in the business.
With Apple CEO Tim Cook and his senior vice-president management team nearing retirement age, Gurman's sources have disclosed that Apple has made a lot of corporate planning and arranged for the younger generation of leaders.
The study suggested that, if Tim Cook retires now, Apple's current Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jeff Williams is ready to take over as CEO. Williams is considered to be the "heir" of the company and was responsible for Apple's global operations under the leadership of Cook. Prior to that, he also led the development of the Apple Watch and various fitness projects and recently began to be responsible for hardware and software design.
Another very significant point is that Williams is said to be very close to Cook in his "pragmatic" style of leadership. He is an executive who works on operations like Cook, not being product visionary as Jobs or former design chief Jony Ive. However, Williams's importance to the company is growing day by day.
In addition to the CEO, Kaiann Drance, the newly appointed deputy head of iPhone marketing, is also a highly valuable fellow. The head of iPhone marketing was Greg Joswiak. Joswiak took over the position of Phil Schiller in August this year.

Craig Federighi is the youngest on the Apple Executive Team and is likely to continue to serve for a few years, but two people are already lined up to fill his spot. Including Sebastien Marineau-Mes, Vice President of Intelligent System Experience, and Jon Andrews, former Director of CoreOS. If necessary, the two could be directly responsible for the role of Craig Federighi.
Apple’s various services, such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, iCloud, and Apple Maps, are led by senior vice president Eddy Cue. Peter Stern, who was borrowed from Time Warner in 2016, is Eddy Cue's first choice. Stern is currently in charge of Apple's original programming work, Apple News, Apple Books, iCloud, and the company's advertising platform. He was also directly responsible for the new Apple TV app launched in 2019, and it is said that he is also "leading" the new "Apple One" service bundle.
Finally, the report also noted that Priya Balasubramaniam would replace Sabih Khan as Senior Vice President of Operations, John Ternus would follow Dan Riccio in charge of Apple's hardware engineering department, and Sribalan Santhanam would succeed Johny Srouji as Head of Hardware Technology.
