Apple Announces Service Program For AirPods Pro Sound Issues

Apple has announced a service program for AirPods Pro that experience sound issues. The company said it has confirmed that it affects a small number of AirPods Pro. Apple said the production date of the affected AirPods Pro models was prior to October 2020.

The affected AirPods Pro may have one or more of the following conditions:
  • Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise, or while talking on the phone
  • Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise
Apple said that Apple or Apple Authorized Service Providers will repair the affected AirPods Pro (left, right, or both earphones) for free.

It should be noted that other AirPods models are not covered by this plan.

Before providing any services, technicians will first check the user's AirPods Pro to verify it meets the conditions of this program. Verify that the problematic AirPods Pro (left, right, or both earphones) will be replaced. The AirPods Pro charging case is not affected and thus, will not be replaced.

Apple also said that this global program will not extend the standard warranty coverage of AirPods Pro. The program covers affected AirPods Pro for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.
