Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released the latest Apple research report, where he focused on the 2021-2023 iPhone key specifications.
First off, the report pointed out that Apple will not release the new iPhone SE models in 1H21 (first half of 2021). Apple will, however, release the new iPhone SE model in 1H22 (the first half of 2022). The new iPhone SE is similar to the existing 4.7-inch iPhone SE in terms of design and most specs. The biggest change is to support 5G and processor upgrades.
Kuo also said that this year's iPhone 13 models will all feature a smaller notch, while the two Pro models will be equipped with low-power LTPO display technology for a 120Hz refresh rate. Other features that are coming include larger battery capacities, Qualcomm's Snapdragon X60 modem, and an upgraded Ultra-Wide camera lens with a wider ƒ/1.8 aperture and autofocus for the iPhone 13 Pro models.
When it comes to 2022 iPhone models, Kuo will drop the notch and switch to that of Samsung's "punch-hole display design." He believes that the hole-punch display design will be adopted by high-end 2022 iPhones at a minimal level, and if the production is good enough, all 2022 iPhone models could use this design.
The reliable analyst hinted that at least one model could include an under-display fingerprint scanner, a periscope telephoto camera, and a real full-screen display design with no notch or holes. An iPhone 11 replacement would also be launched that may adopt a 6-inch LCD screen, Face ID, and a price tag below $600.
Lastly, Kuo shed light on Apple's foldable iPhone plan, suggesting that the Cupertino-based tech giant may debut a device with a 7.5–8 inch display in 2023, except the product, has "not yet officially kicked off."
