At the event today, Apple announced a new generation of Apple TV 4K, this device is equipped with an A12 Bionic chip and comes with a redesign Siri Remote.
The addition of the A12 Bionic chip enables the new Apple TV 4K to significantly improve graphics performance, video decoding, and audio processing. The new Apple TV now supports high frame rate HDR and Dolby Vision video.
There is a new feature called Color Balance, which allows the sixth-generation Apple TV to work with the iPhone to improve the picture quality of the TV. This feature allows Apple TV to use the light sensor in the iPhone to deliver the best color balance by comparing with industry-standard specifications. With this data, Apple TV can automatically adjust the video output to provide more accurate colors and improved contrast.
One of the biggest improvements of the new generation of Apple TV 4K comes from the newly designed Siri Remote, which features a new aluminum body design and uses new controls with five-way navigation. Apple says that this navigation method provides better accuracy when users browse content through tvOS.
Users can also slide their fingers on the outer ring of the remote. This control method is very helpful for finding specific scenes in tv shows or movies. To resolve the issues of the current Siri Remote, Apple stated that the remote is more comfortable to hold.
In addition, the newly designed Siri Remote has a separate power button and a separate mute button. Apple moved the Siri button to the side of the remote. You can also find frequently used buttons such as volume, play/pause, back, and homepage.
The new Apple TV 4K will be sold for $175 (32GB) and $199 (64GB). It will be available for pre-order on April 30 and will be launched in more than 30 countries and regions around the world in late May. Apple also plans to sell the Apple TV with the new Siri Remote for $149. The remote can also be purchased separately for US$59. It is compatible with the previous generation Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.
