Apple Introduces Apple Vision Pro, A High-End AR/VR Headsets That Starts At $3,499

Apple has announced Apple Vision Pro, its first spatial computer. Vision Pro is a high-end headset that combines augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to create a new computing experience.

“Today marks the beginning of a new era for computing,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Just as the Mac introduced us to personal computing, and iPhone introduced us to mobile computing, Apple Vision Pro introduces us to spatial computing. Built upon decades of Apple innovation, Vision Pro is years ahead and unlike anything created before — with a revolutionary new input system and thousands of groundbreaking innovations. It unlocks incredible experiences for our users and exciting new opportunities for our developers.”
Vision Pro features a pair of high-resolution displays, a powerful processor, and a wide range of sensors. The displays are capable of displaying over 23 million pixels, and the processor is designed to handle the demanding tasks of AR and VR. The sensors include cameras, motion sensors, and depth sensors.

Apple Vision Pro features a revolutionary eye-tracking system that allows users to interact with their apps in a natural way. Eye tracking allows users to control their apps with their eyes, and it also makes it possible for apps to respond to the user's gaze. Additionally, users can interact with Vision Pro by simply using their hands and voice, with no need for external hardware.

Vision Pro runs on a new operating system called VisionOS. VisionOS is designed to take advantage of the unique capabilities of Vision Pro. It includes a new user interface that is designed for AR and VR, and it includes a wide range of apps that are designed for spatial computing. Apps and games that will support Vision Pro include Unity (gaming), Disney+, and more.

Apple says that Vision Pro is designed for a wide range of uses, including gaming, education, design, and entertainment. The company says that Vision Pro will be available later this year.

Features of Apple Vision Pro:

  • Ultra-high-resolution displays: Vision Pro features two ultra-high-resolution displays that pack 23 million pixels across both displays. This is more than a 4K TV for each eye.
  • M2 chip: Vision Pro is powered by the M2 chip that can be found in MacBook Pro, it delivers unparalleled standalone performance
  • R1 chip: Vision Pro is powered by the brand-new R1 chip. This chip is designed specifically for AR and VR and it delivers a virtually lag-free, real-time view of the world.
  • Spatial Audio: Vision Pro features an advanced Spatial Audio system that creates the feeling that sounds are coming from the environment around the user and matches the sound to the space.
  • Up to 2 hours of battery life with its external, high-performance battery.
Apple Vision Pro will start at $3,499 in the U.S. and will be available early next year on apple.com and at Apple Store locations in the U.S., with more countries coming later next year.
