Apple Watch Continues To Dominate The Global Smartwatch Market In Q2 2018, As Series 1 Outsold Others

According to a report released by research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple's Watch series accounted for 41% of global smartwatch sales in the second quarter of this year, 90% are Series 1 models. Comes in at second to fifth place are Fitbit Versa, Amazfit BIP, Apple Watch Series 2 and Fitbit Ionic. Several analysts were shocked by that:

"Despite initial hype and traction of cellular based Apple Watch Series 3 in the first two quarters, Apple iPhone users are actually choosing the Series 1 as a non-cellular option over Series 3 non-cellular model which is surprising to many industry watchers.

The report states that Apple Watch continued to dominate the global smartwatch market in the second quarter of this year, with a market share of 41%, but down from 48% in the same period last year. Fitbit, however, was ranked second, with a market share of 21%, much higher than the 8% of the same period last year. In the meantime, Samsung listed sixth, the market share of 2%, compared with 6% in the same period last year.

Apple will be holding a product launch event on September 12th, when the tech-giant release the fifth-generation Apple Watches. However, since Apple leaked Apple Watch Series 4, so we kinda get an idea what it will be going to look like: a new Gold color, 15% of the bigger screen, and a unique but complicated watch faces.
