Developer Shows What Can Be Done With HomeKit & AirPlay 2 Enabled Smart TVs

In a rather surprising tone, Apple announced at CES this year that HomeKit and AirPlay for Smart TV will coming to brands like Samsung, LG, Sony. So after Apple released the iOS 12.2 beta 1 yesterday, which includes these new features, Developer Khaos Tian was able add the smart TV accessory to the Home app, he shared some of screenshots and videos on his Twitter account.


However, he did point out that the support for television in the Home app is just power and input for now, but he was able to rename the inputs, for example, HDMI 1 could be renamed into "Netflix". Furthermore, Tian showed a video where he can control his LG smart tvs with the Apple TV controls in the Control Center, and finally, he confirmed that smart TV will include the support for HomeKit automations.

According to Apple, you can easily play, pause, fast-forward, rewind, and adjust the volume on your TV in the future, and share or mirror almost anything from your iOS devices or Mac directly to your AirPlay 2–enabled smart TV, even better, Siri will also in charge of your TV, you can ask the virtual assistant to send a video to your TV, or play specific show in a specific room.
