Supplier Sources Say Apple Will Launch Its First AR Glasses In 2021

According to Taiwanese media DigiTimes, Apple's augmented reality glasses will be launched in 2021, and small quantity production will begin in the first half of next year. Today's report comes after leaker Jon Prosser detailed his understanding of Apple's AR glasses, with a marketing name of "Apple Glass."

Apple is expected to roll out its augmented reality glasses in 2021, according to sources at related suppliers, which are gearing up to kick off small-volume production for the device in the first half of the year.
Prosser said that Apple plans to release "Apple Glass" in the fourth quarter of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021, and planning processes to unveil the glasses as a "One More Thing" surprise.

But, since Apple wants the media to be there, there are plans to announce the glasses at the iPhone 12 event in September, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prosser says that Apple has offered an alternate release window in March 2021.

LiDAR data from Apple's recently released 2020 iPad Pro will be handed over to the Glasses team to help polish the AR/VR experience of Apple 's glasses, according to Prosser.

Price for "Apple Glass" starts at $499, most of the features of "Apple Glass" will depend on the iPhone with which it is paired, just like when the original Apple Watch was first released.
