13.3-Inch MacBook Pro Will Be The First Mac To Feature Apple Silicon: Kuo

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo issued his latest research note to investors on Monday morning that a 13.3-inch MacBook Pro is expected to be the first Mac featured with Apple Silicon.

Kuo believes that the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro will have a form factor similar to the current 13.3-inch ‌MacBook Pro, he expects it to go into mass production in the fourth quarter of this year and will launch late in 2020 or early in 2021. The analyst also now predicts we will see an Arm-based MacBook Air either in the same quarter or in the first quarter of next year.

He, though, still expects Apple to launch a mini-LED 16-inch ‌‌MacBook Pro‌‌ and a 14.1-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌, with a mini-LED display and an "all-new form factor design.", but these will probably arrive in the second or third quarter of 2021, rather than in October or November of this year, whereas some rumors have suggested.

Kuo predicts that after migrating to its own processor, Apple will further lower the price of MacBook Air. However, Kuo's knowledge generally comes from the supply chain, so in that aspect, the pricing alone is just an educated guess, meaning it could be way off or it could be close to actuality.

Concluding his report, Kuo predicts that MacBook shipments are expected to increase to 16–17 million units in 2020. Kuo also argued that, under optimistic circumstances, if Apple lowered the price of the new MacBook Air to reflect a cost reduction, and if demand for the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models was high, the shipment volume could increase significantly to 18-20 million next year.
