Apple today unveiled the new AirPods Pro with a fresh design that supports active noise cancellation as well as better water resistance. AirPods Pro is priced at $249, and can be ordered right now at Apple.com.
“AirPods are the best-selling headphones in the world. The one-tap setup experience, incredible sound and iconic design have made them a beloved Apple product, and with AirPods Pro, we’re taking the magic even further,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “The new in-ear AirPods Pro sound amazing with Adaptive EQ, fit comfortably with flexible ear tips and have innovative Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. We think customers are going to love this new addition to the AirPods family.”
As expected, the AirPods Pro includes the Active Noise Cancellation feature that blocks ambient noise and lets you focus on what you are listening to. It is continuously adjusted according to the geometry of your ear and the fit of the earbuds, thus reducing the background noise and allowing you to fully engage in music, podcasts, and calls.
When AirPods Pro switches to the newly-added Transparency mode, it allows external sound to enter, enabling you to hear and blend into the surrounding environment. The combination of the outbound and inward microphones allows the AirPods Pro to eliminate the sound insulation of the silicone earbuds so that when you are chatting with people around you, everything sounds and feels natural.
The in-ear wireless earbuds are available in three sizes to adjust the fit of the wear. They fit into your ear shape, allowing AirPods Pro to be worn in your ear at all times and for superior noise cancellation with a high degree of fit.
A custom high-amplitude, low-distortion speaker driver unit delivers powerful bass, along with an ultra-efficient, high dynamic range amplifier for pure, clear sound and extended battery life. The Adaptive Equalization feature automatically adjusts the music playback according to your ear shape, giving you detailed and consistent listening experience.
There's also an H1 chip designed by Apple in which can greatly reduce the audio delay. Furthermore, the force sensor on the headphone handle allows you to easily control music playback and calls, and to switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode. With Announce Message with Siri, you can have Siri read the contents of the message for you via AirPods. And, with Audio Sharing, you and your friends can enjoy the same audio with two AirPods, so you can share a variety of games, movies, and music.
In terms of battery life, Apple promised the listening time of 24 hours achieved by using the charging case for multiple charges. While the listening time for a single charge could last up to 4.5 hours, and the listening time for charging only 5 minutes is roughly 1 hour.
