Tianfeng International's well-noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared his newest research paper today, predicting that the next-generation Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Series 6, will have higher requirements for computing-—faster performance, improved data transmission speed, along with water resistance, so he expects high-priced LCP circuit boards will be adopted.
The analyst expected that the new Apple Watch will implement LCP (liquid crystal polymer) circuit boards instead of the PI (polyimide) material that delivers slower transmission speed. At the same time, the Apple Watch will be more waterproof than the iPhone, meaning that the demand for LCP circuit boards will be even higher, as the moisture resistance will also likely increase.
Mr. Kuo predicts that the shipment of Apple Watch will reach 25 million units in 2020.
Meanwhile, according to IDC analyst Jitesh Ubrani and Forbes, the rumored Apple 16-inch MacBook Pro is in mass production, however, the release time is still uncertain. Jitesh Ubrani said that the 16-inch MacBook Pro was initially ready for sale in October, but it was not completed in the end, therefore, it is still not possible to determine the exact timeframe.
Recently, Taiwanese media DigiTimes have also claimed that the 16-inch MacBook Pro will start mass production in the quarter. The new 16-inch MacBook Pro will feature an ultra-narrow bezel that reverts to the scissor-switch keyboard, a standalone, and possibly a separate ESC physical button.
