Kuo: MacBook Air And Pro W/ Scissors Keyboard In 2Q 2020, ARM Macs In 2021

Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released an Apple research report today, predicting that the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro released in the second quarter of 2020 will feature a scissors keyboard. In addition, the MacBook lineup will usher in major upgrades and improvements.

Further, the MacBook equipped with Apple's self-developed processor will be released in the fourth quarter of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021. Though Kuo did not mention the specific model of the MacBook, it could either be MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, or both. Rumors too have indicated that Apple is developing an ARM processor Mac computer to reduce its dependence on Intel.

Kuo also predicted that Apple will launch a newly designed MacBook in the second or third quarter of 2021, although at this moment, there is no way in knowing what would the redesign would be like.

And as far as the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic concerned, Ming-Chi Kuo expects that operations at MacBook-related suppliers will improve dramatically by the end of March, setting the stage for the mass production of the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models.

The MacBook announcements may already be part of the WWDC Keynote, especially if they are debuted in June (the end of the second quarter). However, due to the presence of coronavirus, it is still unclear whether or not WWDC will be held this June, Apple or possibly announce them via a press release.
