Microsoft today shared a new Surface Go holiday ad, it ridicules the Apple iPad is just a toy, not a real computer. This advertisement tells a 10-year-old girl and her grandmother to buy a tablet. The little girl said that she only play iPad when she is 6 years old, now she is 10 years old and needs a real computer because of her dream, so the Surface Go was her choice.

The iPad running iOS that is designed for smartphones, so there are a plenty of limitations, such as not having a proper file system, doesn't support Mouse, lack professional apps, etc. The Surface Go, on the hand, is powered by the Windows 10 operating system and can run many standard Windows softwares. It can also be touch operated and supports a mouse and a stylus.

Microsoft Surface Go is currently priced at $399, it includes the integrated kickstand and a front-facing camera above the 1800 x 1200 resolution IPS touchscreen display, it's pretty much a touch-screen true laptop. Apple also offers a cheaper iPad model for $329, but its most iPads are cost way higher than that.

The ad comes after Apple launches a series of videos touted out that iPad Pro can replace your laptop, shows what it capable of doing.

In the U.S. today, Apple has launched a brand new online store for active military and veterans, along with members of their households, allows them to get a 10% discount on Apple products. The company said in a statement to TechCrunch that they are "proud" to offer the type of discount to military families.

According to Apple, products that can receive 10% discount includes iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watch models, Apple TV, HomePod, and a wide range of accessories, even some third-party. For example, iPhone XS that original cost $99 for the base model, now only priced at $899, that's a decent discount.
The Veterans and Military Purchase Program (“Program”) is a benefit provided by Apple Inc. (“Apple”) to current and Veteran members of the U.S. Military, National Guard and Reserve. The Program is also offered to their immediate family members who also reside in their same household. The Program is intended for personal use only.
In addition, Apple also providing the educational discount, though the advantages are more towards to veterans seems like. Apple has landed on Amazon as well, that means you can now only purchase the real deal on the website, whereas before you may have to buy some uncertified products.

According to a report published by Gartner, Apple has retained its 11.8 percent share of the smartphone market in 3Q 2018, while Samsung losing 3.4 percent compared to the same period last year, with only 18.9% market share in the quarter, and Huawei saw greater smartphone growth demand, with 13.4%, and placed at #2 spot, whereas Apple now ranked #3.

Though global smartphone sales increased 1.4 percent year-over-year when it compared to Q3 2017, Garner says that if Huawei and Xiaomi wasn't included in the report, then the global smartphone sales would have declined 5.2 percent, in the end, the Chinese smartphone brand, Huawei, was the only one to see significant growth thanks to its cheaper but high-end smartphones.

Garner estimates that Apple sold 45 million smartphones in Q3 2018, roughly the same as last year's figure, and especially points out that iPhone XS Max was more popular than the smaller iPhone XS. Samsung, however, saw an estimated twelve million unit decline in shipments, and Huawei sees a 52 million unit sales.

The research firm believed that next massive consumer smartphone adoption will be in 2020, when the 5G and foldable phones begins to appeared on the market. While Apple will not release the 5G iPhone until 2020, Samsung and other smartphone makers are expected to launch the first 5G device next year.

From the view in 3G and LTE eras, Apple's support for new network standards has been slow. Today, Bloomberg said that next year's new iPhone will not support 5G data network, Apple may have to wait until 2020 to add the mobile network standard support to the iPhone.

Currently, many carriers have indicated that 5G will be deployed in certain regions next year. At the same time, smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung are also actively preparing to launch devices that support 5G. However, Bloomberg believes that Apple predicted that the first versions of the 5G smartphones would suffer from problems like poor coverage.

Back in the day when the iPhone 4s was released, Android vendors began to sell various LTE devices, and Apple chose to continue to wait for the technology to mature. Goes on, it proves that Apple's wait right, the initial 4G smartphone consumes many power and spotty coverage, Second-generation 4G modem got optimized better. so that's when Apple started supported 4G on iPhone 5.

Of course, we still don't know what will happen to the first 5G phones, but Apple will choose to wait. Finally, the dispute with Qualcomm also limited Apple's decision to fully embrace 5G, because Intel's 5G chip has not yet been developed, and it still needs to wait for about 18 months. This means that the iPhone in 2019 is definitely not in time for the party.

The 2018 MacBook Air comes with a 720p FaceTime HD camera, but some users say they found the camera's image quality to be much worse than expected. Some contacted Apple, but end up with no result. One user replied that the image of the newly purchased MacBook Air camera was too blurry, as the photos taken with this MacBook were worse than those of the iPhone 7's.

Another user explained that the problem was apparently caused by the sensor itself or by software, not a one-time problem because the first time he used the new MacBook Air's FaceTime camera as that he confirmed that the lens was clean, the blurred area of the image is uniform, and the light didn't play any big factor.

Note that the previous generation MacBook Air also equipped with a 720p FaceTime HD camera, and some users compared the new MacBook Air camera with the old models, despite that they are all 720p FaceTime HD cameras, but the imaging quality of the new model is even worse.

From the user's feedback, the 2018 MacBook Air camera seems to be a step backward compared to the previous generation MacBook Air. Apple has not yet commented on the topic.

MacRumors reports that an internal document distributed to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers in the United States reveals that though Apple Watch usually has a 14-day refund policy, Apple will accept up to 45 days refound after the user purchases Apple Watch, but only limited to heart health features related requests.

The Apple Store will submit a refund request associated with the Heart health feature to Apple Support, so customers will need to contact Apple by phone, email or online support. The heart health features mentioned here include the electrocardiogram (ECG) feature that will be enabled in Apple Watch Series 4 and the arrhythmia notifications for Series 1 to Series 4.

Furthermore, by the sound of it, Apple Store will not perform a diagnostic check on the watch, which means that as long as the user specifies the ECG function or the arrhythmia notification function in the refund request, then the company will extend the refund time to 45 days.

Maybe Apple's approach is to give users who buy Apple Watch more time to try heart-related features. However, Apple warned in another document that the ECG app is not "intended to be a diagnostic device or to replace traditional methods of diagnosis," and this "should not be used to monitor or track disease state or change medication without first talking to a doctor."
