Apple: App Developers Earned Over $70 Billion From App Store Since It Launched

Apple today announced that the App Store since 2008 launched, they paid more than $70 billion to the developers in worldwide. Becuase Apple takes a 30 percent cut of App Store purchases, including in-app purchases, the App Store's overall revenue has already reached $100 billion.

"People everywhere love apps and our customers are downloading them in record numbers," said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Seventy billion dollars earned by developers is simply mind-blowing. We are amazed at all of the great new apps our developers create and can’t wait to see them again next week at our Worldwide Developers Conference.”


Apple says that Games and Entertainment are the most popular categories. Lifestyle, Health Fitness grew by more than 70% last year. Photo and Video also become very popular, with a growth rate almost approaching 90%

Last Month, Apple said the App Store's revenue grew 40% year over year, setting new high records, but did not disclose the exact amount. Apple said the success of the App Store benefited from "Pokémon GO" and "Super Mario Run".
