Huawei Likely To Go Beyond Apple Becoming Second Largest Smartphone Maker, Samsung Takes #1 Slot On USA Market

According to Taiwanese publication DigiTimes reported that based on to the July to September shipments, Huawei likely in the third quarter of this year beyond Apple, becoming the world's second largest smartphone maker.

The report, citing sources from Taiwan's handset supply chain, said sales of Huawei's flagship models such as P10 and Mate 9, as well as its more affordable Honor-branded models, have continued to gain momentum.

According to research firm Strategy Analytics released data shows that Huawei shipped 38.4 million smartphones last quarter. By seasonal factors, sources from the supply chain claimed that Huawei shipments this quarter will reaching more than 40 million units, which could eclipse iPhone shipments over the same period. Apple reported sold 41 million iPhones last quarter, but that total could drop slightly this quarter due to frequent rumors about iPhone 8.

Apple’s Tim Cook said "We do think that based on the amount of rumors, and the volume of them, that there's some pause in our current numbers, Where that affects us in the short term, even though we had great results, it probably bodes well later on."



Also according to the market research firm Kantar Worldpanel Comtech released a new report statistics from May. It’s said that thanks to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 sales was very high, so the success in the US market go even beyond Apple, becoming the region's number one smartphone manufacturers.

Samsung, which saw its own market share rise from 32.9% to 36.2% quarterly, though still down year-on-year. The two companies between them take all of the top 10 slots on the U.S. smartphone best-sellers list. Apple continues to lead the list with the iPhone 7 Series which sitting at #1 and #2, while last year’s Samsung S7 at #3 and later S8 in the #4 slot.


Apple’s market share was flat in other major markets, down 0.4% in urban China and up 0.2% in Europe big five markets, which comprise Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. Android accounted for 79.5% of smartphone sales in Europe, increasing 2.8 percentage points from a year earlier.
