Apple’s iPhone 9 Next Year Or Feature With 16 Or 18 Megapixels Rear Cameras

According to a DigiTimes report, smartphone lens maker Largan Precision has established a new facility in Taichung, Taiwan, where Apple has signed an agreement with Largan Precision, which will produce above 12-megapixel" for Apple's smartphone camera lens module.
The report said that only Largan Precision can meet Apple's minimum yield requirements, the new plant is reportedly designed to accommodate monthly production of 600 million lens modules. Largan Precision will begin mass production in October 2017, which means that the camera module will appear in the 2018 or later released iPhone, rather than this year's iPhone 8.

Prior reports suggested that the iPhone 8 will use a vertical arrangement of dual-lens, wide-angle lens and telephoto lens support optical image stabilization, but it is unclear iPhone 8’s camera image quality. but Apple will improve the iPhone camera every year.
At present, Apple's latest iPhone and iPad devices, including iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro are equipped with a 12 million pixel rear camera, and 700 million front camera.

It should be noted that the number of pixels does not directly affect the quality of the camera, 4K monitor resolution is only 3820 x 2160, which is 8.3 million pixels. If the rumors are accurate, next year's iPhone 9 will be equipped with 16 million or 18 million rear cameras.
