Apple has reported its FY18 Q3 earnings, during this period, the company sold 41.3 million iPhones, 11.55 million iPads, and 3.7M Macs. In total, the company made $53.3 billion in revenue and $11.5 billion of profit. The revenue and earnings per share figures were the best June quarter ever in the company's history.

For the sake of comparison, in the year-ago quarter, Apple posted revenue of $45.4 billion and net quarterly profit of $8.72 billion. When it comes to product sales, the U.S. tech-giant sold 41 million iPhones, 11.4 million iPads, and 4.29 million Macs a year ago.

“We’re thrilled to report Apple’s best June quarter ever, and our fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Our Q3 results were driven by continued strong sales of iPhone, Services and Wearables, and we are very excited about the products and services in our pipeline.”

The earnings report has also highlighted few interesting tidbits like Apple has returned almost $25 billion to investors through the capital return program during the quarter, Services categoly accounts around 18% or brought $9.55 billion in revenue for Apple, just behind iPhones' 56% or brings $30 billion in recenue. as it reaches a new all-time high. Other categoly also saw 60% of growth year-over-year, made over $10 billion over the last four quarters.

Apple has released the iOS 12 Developer beta 5, Guilherme Rambo discovered that it has brought several easter eggs. In this beta, it confirms that the upcoming 2018 iPhones to have dual-SIM feature, HomePod will be able to make calls, and revealed the design of the next-generation of AirPods charging case.

Dual-SIM: A system component responsible for the generation of diagnostic reports is said to contain references to the "second SIM card status" and "second SIM tray slot status", another component refers to a “dual sim device” These references are clearly associated to future iPhones supporting dual SIM cards.

AirPods: Rambo finds the new animated material shows two states of the AirPods wireless charging case. It added external indicator light can conveniently display if it's charging or not charging. In addition to the new charging case, he also discovered the new AirPods device identification code is AirPods 1,2 (current one is AirPods 1,1)

HomePod: When entering the setup Ul for HomePod, the phone app icon appears on there and a text description mentions make phone calls. Currently, HomePod OS does not come with a developer beta so HomePod users may not be able to use the feature until the official release of iOS 12.

Apple has released the fifth developer beta of iOS 11.2, watchOS 5, macOS 10.14, and tvOS 12, two week after it seeded third betas. These versions can be updated with a developer beta profile and install it on your devices. Here are feature and changes so far discovered:

For iOS 12 beta 5, Screen Time in the Settings app no longer lists family members who aren't children, the Battery Health feature no longer in Beta, lyrics include in Apple Music search, new FaceTime tone when connecting and disconnecting.

Moreover, Apple also introduces some new bugs like paired Bluetooth accessories might not function correctly, error when using Apple Pay Cash via Siri, a couple bugs related to Siri Shortcuts, etc.

For watchOS 5 beta 4 and tvOS 12 beta 4, we didn't find any new feature in it. We expect that iOS 12, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12 will be released to all users in the fall alongside three new iPhones that will be announced by Apple.

Lastly, for macOS Mojave beta 5, Apple adds several new wallpapers appropriate for use with Dark Mode, such as images of the Mojave desert, new abstract oil slick-style wallpapers, new dark flower wallpapers, marketing images that appear in recent Mac refreshes, and so on.

If there are any new changes being discovered, we will post it here!

According to Taiwanese media Economic Daily News, the upcoming MacBook model is likely to be released late than the 2018 iPhones due to that Intel delayed the production of Coffie Lake processors, which means the upcoming MacBooks will continue uses Kaby Lake platform.

The report states that from the beginning, Apple's new MacBook model will be powered by Intel's 10nm process Cannon Lake processor. However, because Intel has not announced the mass production of the 10nm process, and has repeatedly delayed the process, so Apple has decided to use the 14nm++ Kaby Lake chips, so it delayed release date for 13-inch MacBook.

MacBook suppliers also revealed that Apple's new MacBook is affected by the Intel Coffee Lake processors delayed production. This would further affect the enthusiasm for supply chain partners, which is not a good thing for both sides.

This report also says that under the guidance of Apple, the supply chain is also fully coordinated, and the Hon Hai facility has entered the intensive production season in July, make sure the upcoming 2018 iPhones will be launched in time, which includes two OLED versions and one LCD model.

We all face such problems in our daily life, when we want to listen to the song or watch the video, we notice that we don’t have headphones. Although you can borrow it from people around you, what if they just want to use it themselves? However, if this pair of headphones is AirPods, it will be fine, as AirPods can be paired with different iPhones.

  1. Put both AirPods into the charging case and make sure it has enough battery.
  2. After opening the lid, pair it with the first iPhone and take one of the AirPod out.
  3. Close the case. Open the lid again, press and hold the setup button.
  4. Now connected the AirPod to the second device like a MacBook or iPad.
  5. And that's it! Enjoy it.
Since its launch in late 2016, AirPods is the most successful headphones made by Apple. In fact, a report by the research firm NPD Group shows that AirPods and Beats taking about 27% of the wireless headphone market, and its sales account for nearly half of the overall market.

It’s getting closer and closer to Apple’s fall event, so rumors or leaked photos regarding the new iPhones seems to appear almost every day. Today, Leaker Ben Geskin shared photos of several what he said dummy units of 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus and 6.1-inch LCD iPhone models.

The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone uses a single-rear lens, while the iPhone X Plus uses the vertical dual-camera setup that's similar to the iPhone X form. The middle frame of the iPhone X Plus is still made of stainless steel, whereas the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone uses aluminum to reduce costs, as the 6.1-inch iPhone has thicker bezels.

Even though these images show the iPhone X Plus and the 6.1-inch model will come in a space gray and silver colors. However, rumors suggested that the 6.1-inch iPhone X is expected to bring in a slew of colors, including yellow, orange, blue, and more.

Apple's upcoming iPhone models will be including second-generation of iPhone X, a larger iPhone X Plus measure at 6.5-inch, and a budget iPhone which will still use an LCD screen that is 6.1-inch big, reports suggested that the low-cost iPhone will not be released in time because of the production issues.

Various rumors and analysts predict that Apple will release three new iPhones this year: the 5.8-inch second-generation iPhone X, 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus, and a 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD screen. Today, Macotakara said that the 6.1-inch iPhone will use a Full Active LCD screen from JDI.

The Full Active LCD allows for an ultra-small bezel that reduces the bezel to 0.5 mm. For the sake of comparison, the iPhone X's OLED screen has a narrowest bezel of 1 mm. Today's report suggests that the four bezels of the 6.1-inch iPhone are pretty narrow, but no specific numbers are provided.

Moreover, the report notes that Apple is facing production difficulties with the 6.1-inch iPhone X. Mass production is said to begin this month, but the "perfect product rate" is far below the company's expectations. As a result, Macotakara said Apple will be forced to push the 6.1-inch model release date to November.

Believe or not, the upcoming 6.1-inch LCD iPhone X is the most affordable model launched by Apple this year. Of course, since it's priced as low as $600-$700, the company may be to eliminate 3D Touch feature from the device, as it will come with a single-lens rear camera system.

According to MacOtakara, the upcoming release of the new iPad Pro later this year will bring a number of changes, including the removal of the headphone jack and Smart Connector move to the lower rear side, which would be fairly close to the lightning port.

The new 10.5-inch model is reported to measure from the existing 250.6 mm x 174.1 mm x 6.1 mm to 247.5 mm x 178.7 mm x 6 mm. While the 12.9-inch model will also be measured from the existing 305.7 mm x 220.6 mm x 6.9 mm to 280 mm x 215 mm x 6.4 mm. This means that the new models will be slimmer and lighter.

The report further states that this year's new iPad Pro may not come with the headphone jack. The new iPad Pros will bring the Face ID feature, but it is said that horizontal unlock is not supported, which means it will only work only when it is in a vertical orientation.

As a result, the location of the Smart Connector is awkward because it is designed on the side, so the iPad Pro can only be placed horizontally when connected to a dedicated keyboard. Therefore, the report said that Apple will adjust the Smart Connector position, moving from the side to the lower rear side, close to the lightning port.

What do you think? Would you buy an iPad Pro without the headphone jack?

Most of the Apple Stores have been always been designed in a glass wall style, even the underground storefronts of New York's Fifth Avenue and Shanghai Pudong Store have a glass wall above. However, in Milan, Italy, the world's fashion and design capital, Apple has made some unique designs to the glass wall.

Apple Piazza Liberty opened in Milan this evening to thousands of customers who came to experience Apple’s new retail store design for the first time in Italy. Guests gathered on the public piazza and in the store below to join in the Today at Apple sessions and performances, which will continue all weekend.

Apple Piazza Liberty, the first Italian Apple Store that featured updated design is located in Milan's Freedom Square. It has a cascading fountain on the glass wall. make you feel like walk in the water. It is surrounded by 14 acacia trees. It lights up in the evening and looks gorgeous.

It is told that this is the 17th Apple Store in Italy. It is an underground store and home to about 230 Apple employees from around the world. In addition, in September this year, the store will hold a special event for a month, when 21 Milanese artists will be present to share their vision of creativity and the future.

After the launch of JioPhone in the Indian market, the feature phone has grabbed roughly half of the market share, surpasses Samsung and Nokia. Although It is a feature phone, some commonly used app such as Facebook and Youtube are supported because of this phone is featured with KaiOS, an operating system that's used in the feature phones.

KaiOS, a powerful operating system is in its step to become the world's third-largest mobile operating system, and it's already crowded with the title of Indian's second most popular mobile OS, ahead of iOS but behind Android. It plans to bring smartphone-like functionalities to affordable phones, such as KaiStore for apps, video calls over 4G, NFC mobile payments, etc.

Speaking of KaiOS, we have to mention Mozilla's FirefoxOS, which is based on the Firefox kernel Gecko and Linux's new operating system; but Mozilla officially did not invest too many resources in the operating system, and did not insist on doing it.

So, Mozilla finally gave up FirefoxOS, but Dr. Gong Li, who left Mozilla, continued to build such a new operating system, and developed a new so-called H5OS operating system based on FirefoxOS, and also used this operating system on the featured phones.

Though, for a variety of reasons, the development of the H5OS operating system has been abandoned. However, some of the original H5OS team members developed the KaiOS based on this operating system, and successfully cooperated with the Indian phone manufacturers to create the current JioPhone.

JioPhone's configuration is still very backward in the eyes of many consumers. The phone uses a 512MB+4GB storage, which is far less than the current low-end Android smartphone can store; but the device supports GPS, 4G network. And NFC and other functions. JioPhone grows rapidly in the Indian and African market due to the lower selling price.

Market research firm Canalys has released the latest global smartwatch shipments report. According to the report, in the second quarter of 2018, Apple Watch shipped 3.5 million units worldwide. Among them, the Apple Watch Series 3 with integrated LTE feature is the best-selling smartwatch in Asia at the time.

Canalys' data shows that in the second quarter of 2018, global smartwatch shipments reached 10 million units. Apple still accounts for a large proportion of the global smart watch shipment market share, with Apple Watch shipments reached 3.5 million units. Compared with the same period last year, the shipments grew by about 30%.

Despite the gain in shipments of Apple Watch, Canalys believes that Apple's Watch market share is actually declining from the previous quarter, from 43% in Q1 2018 to 34% in Q2 2018 because of the “excellent performance” of Fitbit and Garmin smartwatches drove the growth of their shipments, which led to a significant decline towards Apple Watch.

Apple faces a growing threat from competitors, which have started to pass the million quarterly shipments mark," said Canalys Research Analyst Vincent Thielke. "Vendors are trying to differentiate their products with advanced heart-rate metrics, smart coaching and mapping, and consumers now have a much wider range of smartwatches to choose from than they did a year ago. Amid further competition from Samsung and Google, rumored to be launching Galaxy and Pixel watches respectively, Apple needs to work out how to drive refreshes in markets such as the US, where its penetration into the existing iPhone installed base has started to level off."

Of course, Canalys' data is predictive, not Apple's official data. In the earnings report, Apple classifies Apple Watch as "Other" products, which also includes AirPods, Apple TV, HomePod, Beats products, iPod touch, and various accessories. We should found these number to be true by next week when the company announces its Q3 2018 earnings.

If you run out of iPhone battery while you are on the road and don't have a charger, what should you do? Apple came up with an idea to share the power of other mobile devices to your iPhone via wireless charging technology.

On Thursday, the US Patent and Trademark Office published a patent application file called "inductive charging between electronic devices" submitted by Apple. Two devices, such as tablets and smartphones, can charge each other with their own battery. For instance, an iPhone with a drained battery can be charged with a fully charged iPad.

The patent filed by Apple employs an inductive coil for wireless charging. Unlike most current wireless charging methods, the inductive coil can be used not only to transmit power but also to receives power. It could save the user the trouble of carrying the charger also charging cable or looking for a socket and waiting for charging.

Some schematics also describe the use of such coils in laptops. Among them, the MacBook seems to show the potential location of this coil on the Touchpad and the body. Adding multiple coils to a large device will allow multiple small devices to be charged simultaneously. This is especially useful for those who want to charge both the iPhone and the Apple Watch.

If Apple is going to add this feature to its future products, it will need to set up multiple inductive coils and make sure they switch between the receiving and transmitting states. This means that Apple may need to innovate its hardware. Apple's current wireless charging devices are not available for transmitting, but rather they can use it to receiving power.

According to data shared by CIRP, in the second quarter of 2018, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus is the best-selling iPhone. At the same time, Apple's iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X accounted for 54% of iPhone sales in the U.S., with iPhone 8 accounting for 13%, iPhone 8 Plus accounting for 24%, and iPhone X accounting for 17%.

The older iPhones also sold well, such as the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone 6s. This year's iPhone sales are unusual from last year, with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus being the main sales force last year of 80% of merged sales. Meanwhile, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus combined sales of 37%, surpassing the iPhone X.

In what is usually a quieter quarter for iPhone sales, the model breakdown is interesting, as older models persisted in popularity," said Josh Lowitz, CIRP Partner and Co-Founder. "The latest iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X models accounted for a little more than half of sales, yet last year at this time the then-latest iPhone 7 and 7 Plus accounted for over 80%.

One of the causes for the flat sales of the iPhone X is that it starts at $999 and the iPhone 8 sells for only $699. However, hopefully, this will change soon, as Apple will launch a new low-cost 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, along with a 5.8-inch second-generation iPhone X and a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus.

Nonetheless, the figure doesn't represent all iPhone customers in the U.S, considering that CIRP's numbers are aggregated from surveys that encompass just 500 customers who purchased an iPhone,

Qualcomm announced today that Apple's new iPhones will not use the company's LTE chips. Despite Qualcomm has been supplying moderns to Apple's older iPhones that are still on sale, the chipmaker has completely lost its business in the future.

A report from CNBC said that Qualcomm financial officer George Davis commented on this in the earnings conference call today. Davis said that Qualcomm believes that Apple intends to use only the competitor's moderns in the next-generation iPhones.

We believe Apple intends to solely use our competitors' modems rather than our modems in its next iPhone release. We will continue to provide modems for Apple legacy devices.

The so-called "competitor" of Qualcomm certainly refers to Intel. Apple has adopted the company's moderns since the iPhone 7. At present, the relationship between Apple and Qualcomm is relatively tight, and the two companies have been able to fight in court on the issue of unfair royalties.

Apple today shared a fun new iPhone X ad, highlighting the powerful A11 Bionic chip built into the device. The company is calling the new ad ‘Unleash,’ since the iPhone X allows you to unleash a more powerful you because of the A11 Bionic chip.

In the video, an iPhone X owner walks down the street in Beijing, while he is playing the popular iOS game Vainglory, the characters in the game start coming to life and attacking him, causing him to fight them off in the real world as he supported by the A11 Bionic chip to continue competing on his iPhone X.

The A11 processor, introduced with the iPhone X, is a 10nm six-core 2.4GHz chip with two performance cores and four high-performance cores. It's powerfully suitable for console quality games and augmented reality apps. In the benchmarks, A11 is significantly quicker than the A10 included in the previous model for better gaming and high-grade performance.

A few months ago, market research firm Loup Ventures conducted a test that was mainly targeted at the smart speakers from a number of technology companies to see how they performed in answering questions. Now, they conducted a new test focused solely on digital AI assistants. Though Siri still needs work, the correct rate has significantly improved.

In order to get more objective results, Loup Ventures asked 800 questions on Apple's Siri on iOS 11.4, Google Assistant, Amazon's Alexa and Microsoft's Cortana on a smartphone during the test. The result shows, Apple's artificial intelligence voice assistant Siri was able to understand 99% of the questions and correctly answered 78.5% of it.

Compared to a similar AI-focused test from April 2017, which Siri answered 66.1 percent of 800 questions correctly, it was a big improvement with no doubt. However, researchers explain that it's "not worthwhile to compare" the results across these tests since "the use cases differ greatly between digital assistants and smart speakers."

Regarding the results, Siri performed best in the “Command” category, with 90% of the questions were answered accurately, better than its all competitors. In other categories, the “Location” queries were 87% correct, “Navigation” 83%, “Information” 70%, and “Commerce” of only 60%.

As for other AI assistants, Google answered 85.5 percent of the 800 questions correctly and understood all of them. Alexa accurately answered 61.4 percent but misunderstood 13. Meanwhile, Microsoft's Cortana was way lag behind as it only answered 52.4 percent of question right and misunderstood 19.

Earlier this month, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi released a new report saying that Apple plans to introduce some new color options for the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. Now, Japanese site Macotakara also reported that Apple will release the iPhone in a variety of colors.

Kuo initially stated that the 6.1-inch iPhone will have color options such as gold, gray, white, blue, red and orange. However, Macotakara said its supply chain sources hints that the 6.1-inch LCD model may have white, black, flash yellow, bright orange, electric blue, taupe, or gold.

This is similar to the colors offered by the iPhone 5c, which has choices of green, blue, yellow, pink, and white. Interestingly, Macotakara did not mention that Kuo's prediction that the 6.1-inch iPhone will introduce a red color, but Apple may postpone this color until the first half of next year, just like this year's iPhone 8.

Regardless, this year's 6.1-inch LCD iPhone may be Apple's first iPhone follows the iPhone 5c with a variety of color options to choose from. This is reasonable because the iPhone 5c is priced petty low much like the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone price range.

Speaking to the LCD iPhone, Morgan Stanley's Katy Huberty said in a report today that she believes the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone may not be launched until October. The main reason for the delay is the device's innovative backlight system encountered production problems, which is believed to be key to the near-bezel-free design.

Apple has released a new supplemental update to macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, a software update that's intents to address a bug that caused the new eighth-generation quad-core and 6-core Intel processors in the 2018 MacBook Pro's thermal management system and drives clock speeds down lower than necessary under heavy workloads.

In a statement, Apple explains that the throttling seen in the higher-end 2018 MacBook Pro with Core i9 chip is unintentional, it's rather a bug that's not app specific and affects only intense workloads under certain conditions. Plus, the bug is caused by a missing digital key in the firmware that impacted the thermal management system, and eventually CPU slowdown.

“Following extensive performance testing under numerous workloads, we’ve identified that there is a missing digital key in the firmware that impacts the thermal management system and could drive clock speeds down under heavy thermal loads on the new MacBook Pro. A bug fix is included in today’s macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 Supplemental Update and is recommended. We apologize to any customer who has experienced less than optimal performance on their new systems.”

If these stands true, then the company's claim of the new 15-inch MacBook Pro to be up to 70 percent faster and the new 13-inch MacBook Pro to be up to 2X faster than 2017 models remain the same after you download the software update, as it will be available for all of the new MacBook Pro users.

In a Newsroom post, Apple officially announced that its Apple Piazza Liberty, a retail store in Milan, Italy will open this Thursday. The store that includes both a grand public plaza with a dramatic glass fountain and a store below, brings the company's latest retail design to Italy for the first time.

Like every other Apple Stores, Apple Piazza Liberty will host a variety of Today at Apple sessions, such as photography, filmmaking, music creation, coding, and much more. According to Apple, the new store will also host a special month-long Milan Series, where 21 local artists will share their vision for Milan's creative future.

“There’s no better expression of our vision for Apple stores serving as modern-day gathering places than Apple Piazza Liberty,” said Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail. “In a city with such rich history of art, entertainment and creativity, it's an honor to establish a space where anyone can be inspired to learn, create and connect with their neighbors.”

The store will employ 230 employees, many of whom are from Apple Stores around the world. Apple Piazza Liberty will open on Thursday, July 26 at 5 pm. The retail store is located at the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, one of the most attractive pedestrian streets in Milan.

Ever since Apple's new top-of-the-line 15-inch MacBook Pro has been proved to have CPU slowdown because of thermal throttling, it has been a hot topic lately, people are questioning over Apple's promised better speed gains. However, Consumer Reports stands up and speak for Apple, thinking that the MacBook Pro throttling is rather a self-protection feature, not an issue.

Richard Fisco, an electronics testing program leader at Consumer Reports., said, "Most processors have had this capability built in for years, I would rather have the system throttle and take a lot longer to do things than just let itself get fried.”

The advice given by CR is that if you have high-performance requirements, such as a mass of debugging programs or editing video, a better way is to choose a desktop, such as iMac Pro, or a high-end gaming laptop.

Intel, on other hands, also claims that it was ok for manufacturers to apply their own thermal throttling approaches, even if that resulted in wildly different performance from the same CPU. Furthermore, a Redditor suggests the slowdown can be fixed by power throttling of the voltage regulator module (VRM).

It's widely believed that this year's iPhones will offer a USB-C to lighting charging cable and an 18W USB-C power adapter. A new report today says that if users choose to purchase a third-party charger, they may not be able to get a fast charging experience.

Japanese blog Macotakara quoted sources from multiple supply chains as saying that the fast charging experience of the new iPhone can only be accomplished with USB-C Authentication certificated chargers. In other words, even if the charger can provide 18W of charging speed, iPhones will limit the charging speed to 2.5W except the charger has USB-C authentication.

It should be emphasized that this does not mean that users can only use Apple's charger. Currently, the USB-C authentication standard has been supported by more than 50 companies. However, don't expect to buy a third-party charger to get a fast charging experience on the iPhone, but rather check it before you make a purchase decision.

A report last week said that due to supply limitations, the 18W USB-C charger for the new iPhone will not be available for purchase at the beginning of the launch or not being sold separately.

In 2016, Apple released the first MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. At the time, iFixit's teardown experts found that the machine used a non-replaceable solid state drive. The Touch Bar models' solid-state drive is soldered directly to the logic board. This makes people worry that if the logic board crashes, the data will not be recovered. Fortunately, it's not the case.

For the 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pros with Touch Bar, Apple offers special tools. Genius staff and Apple Authorized Service Providers can use it to recover data even if the logic board crashes. Of course, the SSD must be in stable condition. The tool is a small black box that can transfer data from a MacBook Pro's crashed logic board to a normal MacBook Pro.

However, last week, iFixit teardown the 2018 MacBook Pro and found that Apple removed the Data recover connector on the logic board, which means the data recovery tool does not support the latest MacBook Pro. A reason for the removal is probably because of the Apple T2 chip, which provides SSD hard drive encryption.

Apple's internal 2018 MacBook ProService Readiness Guide also mentions that advised technicians recommend users to use Time Machine backups. Of course, we can also choose a third-party data recovery tools, but the price is more expensive. Still, at least the critical information is backed up!

Apple released the beta version of HomePod firmware to its employees. The new software would be released with iOS 12 this fall, as the beta version of the HomePod firmware includes many new features, such as the ability to set multiple timers with Siri and make phone calls, they can also use the "Find My iPhone" command. (Via iGengeration)

The current HomePod cannot get the contact data in the user's iPhones, so it is not possible to make a call. However, users can make calls on the iPhone and transfer audio output to HomePod. Similarly, when a call is received, the HomePod will not ring since your iPhone will pick up, and from there, transfer the audio to the HomePod.

In addition to making calls, HomePod can also listen to voice messages and search for call history. Like other Apple operating systems, HomePod OS 12 supports the "Find My iPhone" command, and you can ask Siri to locate your iPhone and ring the iPhone. The upcoming update will also introduce a feature that let the HomePod connect to same WiFi as paired iPhone.

We'll learn more about HomePod in September or October when Apple issues iOS 12, as well as watchOS 5, tvOS 12 and macOS Mojave.

According to the India Today, the India Telecom Regulatory Authority TRAI has recently introduced a new policy requiring all smartphones to pre-install an app called Do Not Disturb (DND 2.0) in order to connect to cellular carriers for internet access.

However, Apple has prohibited DND 2.0 from entering the App Store due to privacy risks,, which means that India's iPhones may not be able to use 3G, 4G networks or even sell properly. For those who aren't familiar with the matter, DND 2.0 is an anti-spam app that blocking harassing phone calls and messages.

As for why it has not been reviewed by the App Store and can only be downloaded from the Google Play Store, Apple believes that the app would collect the user's call and Message records, infringing on personal privacy. If Apple continues to refuse to launch the app in the App Store, all iPhones in India will become worthless "bricks."

We have reported a series of rumors and patent applications regards to Apple Watch, which suggest that Apple has a greater ambition for the future of its wearable devices. This week, the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued another Apple patent linked to Apple Watch, which enables users to use Apple Watch as a reliable tool to prevent sunburn.

Originally filed in December 2017, Apple's "Light-based Shielding Detection" patent details a state-of-the-art sunscreen detector that can be used with portable devices such as the Apple Watch. The patent doc states that although sunscreens are characterized by a sun protection factor (SPF), the efficacy of a particular product ultimately depends on several factors—such as how much sunscreen is applied, the sunscreen's waterproof, and even the wearer's skin sensitivity.

Apple says that the method can provide more detailed inspections in darker environments, such as occluded outdoor bathrooms. Using camera lenses and augmented reality, it can create an image or video to show any unprotected skin area that is detected, giving users a deeper understanding of which areas of their skin need care.

Notwithstanding, this is still a patent application, so like other Apple patents, we are not sure when it will be used on Apple Watches.

In an internal document from Apple that was sent to an Authorized Service Provider., Apple confirmed that the membrane used in the 2018 MacBook Pros keyboard is a mechanical structure to prevent debris from entering the butterfly keyboard.

Last week, iFixit found a silicone barrier under the keycaps of the new MacBook Pro keyboard, which was speculated to prevent debris from entering. Apple did not directly admit this design flaw but mentioned that the new MacBook Pro is less noisy in typing so the silicone barrier can lower the sound.

The keyboard has a membrane under the keycaps to prevent debris from entering the butterfly mechanism. The procedure for the space bar replacement has also changed from the previous model. Repair documentation and service videos will be available when keycap parts begin shipping.

Since the introduction of the Butterfly keyboard, several users have found that the keys of the keyboard are often unresponsive, sticky, and not functioning. Last month, Apple launched the MacBook Pro keyboard replacement program to provide a free keyboard replacement service for the 2015-2017 MacBook Pro models

It appears that all references to HomeKit doorbells have been removed by Apple for some reason in a recent HomeKit accessories list update. However, only the August Doorbell Cam was listed under the category, as it says "Coming Soon", We think that August may already abandon the platform support, so there are no doorbell products listed under the category.

Video doorbell support was first introduced when Apple announced the arrival of the Home app for iOS 10. The company says that when people receive a Home app alerts, they would be able to watch live feeds, use an intercom, and even unlock their door, etc.

August and Ring, though promised to upgrade their doorbells soon, yet, there weren't any software updates have been available for years. The latter even reiterated its commitment to upgrade Ring Pro and Floodlight after Amazon's acquisition, despite Amazon's Alexa is a rival of the smart home platform.

Apple has not commented on the matter by the time we posted this article.

A report from last month says that Apple will bundle the faster USB-C power adapter with its new iPhones for the first time this year. Now, Macotakara reports that the new charger will be shipped with the new iPhones, but it will not be sold separately initially.

The report explains that the 18W USB-C charger will appear in the box of the new iPhone this year, but supply shortages will emerge in the early days. As a result, it can initially be bundled with the new iPhones but will not be sold separately like charger, in other words, suppliers will only make enough chargers for inclusion with 2018 iPhones.

It is worth mentioning that the report also pointed out that third-party manufacturers may start using a new Lightning chip “C48B” from 2018, since Apple may add the technology to its MFi certification project by the end of 2018.

The charger looks thinner than the current 5W charger and is smaller than the 12W charger that comes with the iPad. Currently, the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X both support USB-C fast charging, but Apple still offers a standard USB-A charger. It's expected the new USB-C charger will provide a fast charging experience for the 2018 iPhone.

A YouTube user, Dave Lee, shared a video yesterday and suggest you to not buy a 15-inch MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i9 processor. The reason is also very simple. According to his test, the laptop can't even run at its base clock speed, so he goes on suggests that it have done thermal throttling since it can't provide sufficient cooling to run at full speed.

Dave Lee also shared some Premiere Pro rendering times, where he points out that 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro with Core i9 processor is not as great as the 2017 MacBook Pro with Core i7 when it comes to rendering. The 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro takes 39 minutes to render, whereas the 2017 model takes 35 minutes. Despite Premiere Pro is not specifically optimized for macOS, the gap is still significant.

Once Lee put the 2018 MacBook Pro into the fridge and tested it again, the performance of the Core i9 processor of the 2018 MacBook Pro was excellent, as it took only 27 minutes to complete the rendering. Dave Lee believes that the thermal throttling of the 2018 i9 MacBook Pro is "unacceptable" and professional users will be greatly affected.

It's unclear whether Lee received a MacBook Pro with a Core i9 chip got something wrong, currently, there are no users report this problem.

Samsung today announced that it has completed functional testing and verification of the industry's first 10nm 8-gigabit LPDDR5 DRAM. LPDDR5 DRAM is specifically designed for AI applications that are equipped with 5G smartphones.

Samsung said that the prototype LPDDR5 DRAM boasts data rate of up to 6.5Gbps, 1.5 times faster than the LPDDR4X used in iPhone X and other flagship smartphones. At the same time, LPDDR5 DRAM supports all-new sleep mode and other features that can reduce power consumption by 30%, which will most likely help to extend the battery life of mobile devices.

Based on its industry-leading bandwidth and power efficiency, the LPDDR5 will be able to power AI and machine learning applications, and will be UHD-compatible for mobile devices worldwide.

Apple, on the other hand, will use Samsung's LPDDR5 DRAM in the future iPhones, which means further performance improvements and increased battery life is on the table. Samsung has said it will mass-produce the next generation of DRAM, however, the time has not yet been determined.

It’s still about two months before Apple’s next-generation iPhone launches, and it’s almost certain that Apple will launch three new iPhones this year. Twitter leaker Benjamin Geskin just shared an image, which supposedly is the front glass panel of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, iPhone X2, and iPhone X Plus.

From the photo point of view, it appears that the 6.1-inch model with an LCD panel will have slightly thicker bezels compared to the iPhone X and iPhone X Plus that are expected to have OLED displays.

Several rumors expect Apple to launch a budget 6.1-inch LCD screen iPhone, a 5.8-inch OLED screen iPhone X2, and a 6.5-inch OLED screen flagship iPhone X Plus. All are believed to support Face ID, Animoji, and Memoji features so they are likely to have a notch on top of the screen.

According to DigiTimes, the latest news from the supply chain said that Apple has a large backlog of iPhone X that is almost three times the number of iPhone Xs they already shipped. The report said that these do not refer to the finished product, but rather inventories are composed of a mixture of components such as the glass back and chassis.

Although there is a backlog of inventories, the article pointed out that this didn't affect Apple's performance. In addition, these components may continue to be used on this year's new iPhone.

Since some chassis and other components for older-generation iPhone devices can also be used for the production of next-generation iPhone products, these component suppliers are eyeing the planned launch of the new iPhones this fall to bring a sales boom that will effectively clear out their inventory, said the sources.

Apple is expected to release three new iPhones this year, including a 6.1-inch LCD screen iPhone that cost less than $800, and two OLED (5.8-inch and 6.5-inch) models, as well as richer color schemes.
