PSA: Some 2018 iPad Pro Cases May Prevent Apple Pencil 2 From Charging

The redesigned Apple Pencil can be magnetically attached to the side of the 2018 iPad Pro for wireless charging. Accessories manufacturer Speck has confirmed that the company's first case for the latest iPad Pro does not support Apple Pencil's wireless charging and says many of its competitors will do the same,

Speck says that its 11-inch and 12.9-inch Balance Folio and Presidio PortFolio covers for the 2018 new iPad Pro do not currently support wireless charging of Apple Pencil, as do most of the cover cases on the market. But they are working something that provides full availability of the device, which would be released in early 2019.
“Our BalanceFolio and Presidio ProFolio cases for the new 2018 iPad Pro 11” & 12.9” currently inhibit wireless charging for the Apple Pencil, as do most protective cases on the market. We are designing product updates to provide full usability of the device
Obviously, this is not just a problem with Speck, all of the new iPad Pro cases require an cutout for the second-generation Apple Pencil so it can attached to it and wireless charging it. At present, the 2018 iPad Pro has not yet been delivered to consumers, we need wait and see how accessories makers solve this issue.
